Pregnancy after depo?

how long until i can get pregnant? i was on depo for 2 shots (6 months) and now i want to try for another baby, any tips or success stories for me? everything ive read on the internet is awful and says anwhere from 3 to 18 months..is this common? my dr never told me that this could happen, i don't want to wait 18 months for a baby.
